A Pure Green River

It’s all coming back around – and we’re glad about that!

Green River was originally developed during Prohibition by the Schoenhofen Brewery of Chicago answering the age-old question, “What do you do when you can’t brew beer?” Why, you make a delicious non-alcoholic bubbling beverage!

And tasty it was. “The Lime soda with just a Trace of Lemon” trailed only Coca-Cola in popularity throughout the Midwest.

After Prohibition, the Green River recipe passed hands of various bottlers, some who decided that the pure cane sugar ingredient was just too much trouble.  A “variation on a soda theme” was presented as Green River for many years.

Thankfully, one bottler is getting it right by eliminating the High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and going back to the original pure cane sugar.

We couldn’t be happier! In fact, it’s a perfect opportunity for those who haven’t experienced first-lipped just how delicious a soda is with cane sugar. Try the old “taste test” and see how each Green River flows and we guarantee that you will embrace the purity of the soda…the way soda was meant to be!!
